I dig my hole you build a wall
I dig my hole you build a wall
One day that wall is gonna fall

Gon' build that city on a hill
Gon' build that city on a hill
Some day those tears are gonna spill

So build that wall and build it strong cause
We'll be there before too long

Gon' build that wall up to the sky
Gon' build that wall up to the sky
Some day your bird is gonna fly

Gon' build that wall until it's done
Gon' build that wall until it's done
But now you've got nowhere to run

So build that wall and build it strong cause
We'll be there before too long
Edit 2: It's the first result on Google...whut?
Edit: Moved to scraps anyway.

Lyrics to Zia's theme in Bastion.
I love this one more than Zulf's theme actually.

Found the lyrics on You Tube and brought them here.

Lyrics: Darren Korb
Vocals:Ashley Barret

Got the soundtrack version of the game for ~$3... One of the best decisions I've made.

ok, gonna be honest, when I thought this was the Kid's theme due to the whole 'build a wall' thing

It's considered Zia's theme because she's the one who sings it. Although I don't think the character herself understands the meaning to the song.

Those three songs(Build that wall, Mother I'm home and Setting sail/coming home) are some of the best songs I've heard in videogames. They alone would be enough to make Bastion one of my favorite games.

That's why I like indie games alot, though they are short, most of them can show more emotion than any of the main company games.
Bastion is one of those games that shows the emotion.

I can only agree. Bastion is also one of the games that should have become a movie or a series.

Maybe a visual novel, those work best for game-based media.

You need to punctuate the lyrics...

"I dig my hole, you build a wall"

and fix a few spots

"So build that wall and build it strong
'Cause we'll be there before too long"

There's really no need, its lyrics in my scraps, not a poem or story that I have in my main gallery.

Why not get the whole soundtrack again? You only had Bottom Feeders on your mp3 player, the whole soundtrack is amazing.

Wow. The song's melody is decidedly upbeat, but the lyrics are so... dark.
Basically, 'prepare while you can, because we're coming to end you.'
Definately an Ura song. A lot of barely contained anger in their people; a lot of barely contained anger in these words.

Most songs are like that in general, especially if you listen to foreign lyrics you don't know the translation of.

The Uras have a reason to be angry though, with the war and the clamity they want to wipe out the last of the Caelondians which are just the kid and Rucks.

Wasn't saying the Ura didn't have a reason to be angry... if anything, their hatred is the most justified I've ever seen. I often finding myself more sympathetic with the Ura than the Caelondians as I play Bastion.

This song is actually a series of thinly veiled threats to the Caelondians by the Ura. Since Zia was raised in Caelondia, she doesn't realize the true context of the song.

DID I JUST BLOW YOUR MIND

OR DID YOU ALREADY SURMISE THAT

Not that this contradicts your theory, but from a certain perspective, I've thought that Zia's lyrics sort of brought the implications of the evacuation conclusion, while Zulf's sort of hinted at the restoration conclusion. This is boldly moving forward and accepting what is unavoidable ruin instead of reverting to the past (and embracing one's mother). After all, "the only good thing to come out of the past is his-story".

... Which is why it's so interesting to hear them both in medley during the credits. Really invokes the sadness that comes with contingency and forks in the road.
